Trong loạt phim CƠ THỂ LOÀI NGƯỜI, giáo sư Robert Winston đưa chúng ta trên chuyến du hành theo thời gian mà điểm khởi đầu là lúc sinh ra và điểm cuối cùng là khi giã từ cõi đời và lộ trình của chuyến đi chính là một nơi vô cùng quen thuộc: Cơ thể Loài người.

Với những công nghệ đồ họa máy tính, những kỹ thuật chụp ảnh tân tiến, những kỹ xảo quay chậm tuyệt diệu, chúng ta có thể khám phá mọi khía cạnh, mọi bộ phận trong cơ thể con người trong nhiều giai đoạn phát triển khác nhau trong cuộc sống : sinh ra, trưởng thành, rồi chết đi.

Bộ phim miêu tả chi tiết đồng thời người dẫn chương trình cũng giải thích thấu đáo các quá trình quan trọng của đời người như thụ thai, sự chập chững biết đi của trẻ, sự trưởng thành của thanh thiếu niên, sự lão hóa của người già hay cơ chế hoạt động cực kỳ phức tạp của bộ não (đây là bộ phận tiêu tốn nhiều năng lượng nhất trong cơ thể) và cuối cùng là cái chết

Qua cách nói dễ hiểu, trực quan và sống động của giáo sư Winston, các em nhỏ trên 10 tuổi hoàn toàn có khả năng cảm thụ được loạt phim này. Ngoài ra khán giả cũng sẽ rất bất ngờ và thú vị với những câu nói hóm hỉnh, những thống kê ngộ nghĩnh (chẳng hạn trung bình một người trong cả đời tốn mất 3 năm rưỡi thời gian để ăn và ăn hết 160 kg sô cô la). Bên cạnh đó là những tình cảm xúc động khi chứng kiến cảnh quay những phút cuối cùng của Herbie – một bệnh nhân đang chống chọi với căn bệnh ung thư.
